EMERGENCY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EFA)

This is our primary program and focus of our agency.  Our EFA program allows us to stop a family's financial crisis, while giving them the tools, skills, and hope as they begin their journey to financial self-sufficiency.

SECONDARY PROGRAMS

Designed to support our mission of building financial self-sufficiency and reducing financial hardship by increasing financial literacy, and alleviates some monthly expenses, programs are available to STEP families at no cost.

Financial Freedom Seminars

  • Monthly seminars to build financial literacy 

  • Led by certified financial volunteers 

  • Families learn money saving strategies and techniques, with topics such as: Surviving the Military Financial, Should I Buy That New Car, and Be Debt Free Forever

STEP's Community Outreach

  • STEP's Warehouse on Wheels (WOW) distributes goods to military bases throughout Southern California to ensure that babies and families have what they need. We were able to serve 1,867 family members through this program in 2017.

  • Donated items include diapers, wipes, new car seats, new cribs, hygiene products, feeding items, clothing, strollers, blankets, books, toys, and home goods

  • Participated in outreach and resource fairs reaching 3,913 individuals in 2017

Military Family Appreciation Carnival

  • STEP works with community partners to honor our military and veteran families by hosting a family-friendly carnival day with food, games and entertainment

  • Distribution of a truck full of donated baby items and household goods to young military and veteran families 

Holiday Programs

  • STEP helps our families in the most extreme financial hardship to share in the joy of the holiday season with a Thanksgiving feast and holiday gifts without impacting their family budget

  • 100% of costs are underwritten by community and corporate sponsors
