IN-KIND DONATIONS- Thank you for choosing STEP!

In-kind donations to STEP help offset program expenses as well as alleviate the cost of some critical needs for our families. When we can help provide a basic necessity, families can redirect those funds to debt reduction and savings, helping them stay on the path to financial self-sufficiency.  Our Warehouse on Wheels program allows families access to new and gently used donated household items they have been going without. While needs vary throughout the year, below is a list of on-going items needed annually: 

 

STEP accepts a variety of in-kind donations, including:

  • Gift cards (Target, Walmart, Visa, Safeway, Ralph’s, etc.)

  • New diapers and baby wipes (sizes 4 through 6 most needed) 

  • New cribs and car seats (due to federal law, must be new)

  • New or gently-used* items in very good condition include:

    • Kitchenware: Pots, pans, silverware, bowl and plate sets, cooking utensils, etc. 

    • Bedroom basics: new comforters, blankets, pillows, bed linens, etc. 

    • Bath basics: new towels, shower curtains, etc.

    • Baby and children's clothing and shoes


*To uplift and retain the dignity of our military families, please donate pristine, gently-used items.

Please note: we only accept items that are small and light enough for one person to easily carry.

 

STEP is unable to accept the following in-kind donations:

 

  • Household waste (paint, solvents, ink cartridges, cleaning supplies, perfume, cosmetics, lotions)

  • Large, bulky furniture (couches, wardrobes, bed frames, etc.)

  • Large appliances

  • Used electronics, cords, chargers, box tv screens, and other electronic accessories

  • Construction materials, scrap metal, and used batteries

  • Used baby bibs, cribs, and car seats

  • Used mattresses

When we receive items that are restricted, STEP incurs the cost of disposal. One of the items we currently have at full capacity is adult clothing, shoes, and accessories, which we are unable to accept at this time. In addition, due to limited storage capacity, donations of new or gently used medium-sized items, including baby strollers and small-to-medium-sized furniture items, must be approved in advance on a case-by-case basis. During this time, we are unable to pick up donation items, and they must be delivered to our

Scripps Ranch office by appointment. We appreciate your support and understanding.
